Our Story

A fonda is more than a restaurant. It's a gathering place.

The word fonda comes from the old inns of Spain — modest places where travelers came for a proper meal and a warm room. That's the spirit we carry into everything we do at Fonda San Angel.

We opened our doors on Airline Drive with a simple conviction: Mexican food in Houston deserves to be made with the same care and honesty as the food your abuela would make. Not the watered-down version. Not the fusion experiment. Just good food, done right.

Every mole is ground the old way. Every tortilla is pressed by hand. We source what we can locally and import the rest from Mexico because some things simply cannot be substituted.
